Why Does Honu Golf Use Bamboo?

Well, as a golfer this natural material helps deliver the vibrational resonance or “feel” that benefits the player’s ability to perform.

The natural frequency of a golf ball striking the bamboo putter head literally gives (scientifically) a damping vibration, a soft and pleasant sound and along with the Honu Golf’s design of mass balancing on axis there is no putter more accurate or more agreeable in the world.

Bamboo is technically a grass, not a tree; there are no weak points along its length. This makes it stronger and more durable than even the toughest wood. Bamboo is super strong; even stronger than steel! The tensile strength of steel is 23,000 PSI, while the tensile strength of bamboo is 28,000 PSI. Our customized lamination adds again more strength more feel and more beauty.

Bamboo is a fast growing and a naturally renewable tree-like grass. It requires little maintenance to farm as it doesn’t need any pesticides or herbicides and very little water to grow.

Compared to an equivalent tree mass, bamboo produces 35% more oxygen and research has shown that bamboo can absorb as much as 12 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare per year. That’s a lot of carbon sequestration!

At Honugolf we believe in living sustainably, bamboo ticks a box we all need to check.

Oh, and you will have more one putts besides. Aloha
